  • Must Refresh A/V Devices every time?!

    Hi all!

Okay… I finally upgraded to FCP 6.0.2 (with my video playback set to Digital Cinema Desktop Preview – Full Screen) and I’ve noticed that anytime I leave Final Cut for another app (let’s say “Command+tab” to check my email), when I return to FCP, I have to Refresh A/V devices (although Digital Cinema Desktop Preview is still checked).

Have I missed something? With Studio 1, I could hop back and forth to my hearts content and never have to refresh… when I installed Studio 2, did I neglect to check (or uncheck) some preference?

Certainly this isn’t a major problem… just a minor annoyance, but thanks in advance for pointing out what I’m sure should be obvious to this caffeine-lacking brain!

Please post system details and also report to apple. This sounds like a RAM issue to me or also could be something to do with the GFX card.

    System details:
    G5: Dual 2.7 GHz PowerPC
    2.5 GB DDR SDRAM
    GFX: ATI Radeon 9650
    Mac OS 10.4.11

I’ll report to Apple as well (although admittedly I assumed “operator error”).

    Thanks David!

    Sue,

I have the same system with 6.5RAM. I use a KONA 2 card so I never use digital cinema desktop but I do drive 2 23 inch monitors with that GFX card.

Should be no problem. What size monitors are you trying to drive.

Open disk utility and run a repair permisions on the drive as well.

Run FCP rescue or FCP attic and trash your prefs as well.

    David
