I know you’re not asking the question I’m going to attempt to answer…but your alignment problems can be taken care of with PluralEyes from Red Giant. As long as your audio files are “as imported” PluralEyes can align all audio with video (that HAS audio, of course). I have seen some amazing results…

OK. I’m done. The other answer may be what you’re really looking for… 🙂

RX5 Pro has some interesting things in it, but I have gotten all I need from the standard version. It is quite complete (from my perspective) and I try to keep up to date with RX as I do with Vegas…

May 27, 2016 at 8:14 pm in reply to: Dual (Double?) Layer DVD burning…

Well, after burning with the recommended bitrates, my file was almost exactly 8M. The video was 7,613,888K and audio 344,063K. I opened Architect, and everything worked like normal. It knew that I had a dual-layer disk in the drive. I didn’t have to set a layer break.

I burned the DVD – took about ½ hour. I burned it a rate of 4… It ran fine on my computer drive, and also in my TV DVD drive. Yea!

Hope it might help someone in the future…

November 27, 2015 at 7:04 pm in reply to: How to restore layout of the timeline

The way this happens is when you double-click on the beginning or end of any event on the timeline. You will see the right/left end have a red “bracket” on it. You can reverse this by double-clicking again on the same event end.

    Export from PP.

  • No plugin, like Johnny says, but just as easy. It costs around $200 – so it will depend on how much you are going to use it: Pluraleyes.

I purchased it, and it does exactly what you are talking about.

Click on the icon you’ve added to the Vegas toolbar. Your audio is taken to Pluraleyes, analyzed and aligned. You go back to Vegas, and all your audio is lined up.

Make sure you use Pluraleyes FIRST, because after you make other audio changes, it may not work. But, it is amazing how it does work…

September 29, 2015 at 12:13 pm in reply to: How do you delete unused Time on the timeline

[lachlan neahsam] “The time in the timeline is too long. It’s 40 mins long but i only need it to be around 5 mins long”

Another thing to try (bet you already have by now) is to leave and reenter Vegas and your timeline will be as long as your video. If you HAD a longer video and split and deleted the part you didn’t need, the timeline stays the same as it was. However if you save, leave, and reenter, the timeline will conform to the longest (now shorter) video you have.

It would be nice to find a way to have the timeline fit what is currently on the timeline, but I haven’t found a way to do that…

[Greg Prickril] “I simply shrink the talking head clip and slide it over so that it’s behind the slide clip, which I move to the center. A minute or two later, I do the opposite to return to the original layout.”

I was hoping that someone else would answer you…but I think you’re doing more moving than you need… Rather than shrinking and moving the Talking Head clip (event), just keyframe on the opacity, and reduce it to zero (over time) as you are moving the slide event. At a minimum, you shouldn’t have to reduce the size of the talking head. OTOH, I haven’t seen what you are doing – and it’s probably more professional than I’m thinking of.

What I do is have my slide event on the first video track, and then it overrides the lower events anyway, so you wouldn’t have to mess with the talking head at all…

Still looking forward to other comments…
