  • How to restore layout of the timeline

Posted by Francesco Forcella on November 27, 2015 at 4:58 pm

Hi guys, probably this is a noob question, but I’m a noob in using this program so.
I don’t know how but I destroyed the layout of the timeline. This message explains it for good

As you can see, track 4 has the clips split up in two sub-levels (?) where in origin they were all “aligned”, whitout all those arrows pointing up and down. Also track 3 as those “A” and “B” things that I don’t know where they came from.
How can I go back to the “original” layout? You know, where for each video or audio track there is just one “level” of clips?

I hope I explained my situation somewhat well, english is not my native language 🙂
    Thanks for helping

Right click on the track list header (farthest left of the track), then uncheck Expand Track Layers.

The way this happens is when you double-click on the beginning or end of any event on the timeline. You will see the right/left end have a red “bracket” on it. You can reverse this by double-clicking again on the same event end.

In addition Dave’s post, the double click on beginning or end, is a feature of Vegas Pro, but not Movie Studio.

And try pressing 5 on the numeric keyboard – much quicker.

I have yet to find any use at all for that feature. Seems totally useless to me. What am I missing about it?

Have a look at the video to be seen via the Vegas Pro Forum that introduced Version 12. Gives a good demo of a most valuable feature.

Never have the need to really use that feature myself.
