For the life of me I can’t remember how to do this:

A while back, when I wanted to sync the good audio of an interview that I recorded on my Tascam DR-40, with the bad audio that simply comes out of my GH3, I would put the two audio tracks on tracks, one above the other. Then I would (and I forgot now how to do it) drag a black bar on the camera audio track to where the speaking begins, then on the good audio track I would drag a black bar to where the audio begins, then I’d drag the entire bottom track to where the two bars would line up.

They’re like Markers, but they’re not Markers.

Does anyone know what I’m referring to and how I can do that? I can’t remember now how to do it.

    Thanks.

Snap Offset Marker? If so, please refer to 3:50 of this YouTube video (a session for multicam editing).

I know you’re not asking the question I’m going to attempt to answer…but your alignment problems can be taken care of with PluralEyes from Red Giant. As long as your audio files are “as imported” PluralEyes can align all audio with video (that HAS audio, of course). I have seen some amazing results…

OK. I’m done. The other answer may be what you’re really looking for… 🙂

    Thank you, Shinra!

That’s how you do it. I couldn’t remember.

I’ll eventually have to get PluralEyes I suppose.
