One more question if you don’t mind. As I mentioned above this is my first go-around with HD video so please be patient :). For Bluray burning if I use the 1920 x 1080 30p HD Vegas project properties to build my project it looks like I want to use the HD 1080 60i setup for rendering? Is the workflow similar to SD in that I make an AC3 file and a MainConcept mpeg2?
I tried the above and when I bring my AC3 and mpg2 into DVDA (set up as Bluray 29.970 interlaced, AC3 stereo audio format) I get a thumbnail from each file. Each thumbnail seems to have video and audio attached when previewed in DVDA but not when previewed outside of DVDA. Instead of having one thumbnail (after bringing in the AC3 and video file) I have two. When I do this with SD video I only have one thumbnail. I hope I explaned this correctly.

    Thanks

It sounds like everything is the same as doing SD widescreen. Can I edit using the 1920 x 1080 30p HD Vegas project properties or should I use SD widescreen project properties? If possible I’d like to use the 1920 x 1080 30p HD Vegas project properties so I can also output an HD version onto Bluray for myself.

    Thanks

    Hi John,

Thanks for your response. My problem is that I need to give a DVD to some elderly family members that don’t have Bluray players (and probably never will). So I need to know how to get it onto DVD and keep the quality as best as possible even if it’s not HD.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info Mike. It’s so frustrating when upgrades seem to take us backwards. Oh well, onward we march!

    Thanks

    James,
I have DVDA 5.0b on another computer and the burning tab looks the same as your screen shot. On my other computer with DVDA version 5.2 is where I have the Legacy driver choice. I’m thinking the older version (5.0) doesn’t give you the option with the Legacy drivers (unless it’s hidden somewhere else) so you may need to update your DVDA. As far as Sony Movie Studio—I don’t have it so I can’t help you with that one–sorry.

    Thanks

James–What version of DVDA are you using? I’m using 5.2. If yours is older maybe it’s not there???

    Thanks

    James,

In DVDA–go to “Preferences”, “Burning” tab–it should be there.

    Thanks

I figured out why the video would not seperate into seperate clips–The time on the camera was not set! Thanks to Douglas S.E. I was able to solve the issue.
