The current crop of Intel i7 processors are great.

STAY AWAY from AMD CPUs, as they are quite poor for video editing.

  • I always take my files into Resolve first, do my corrections, then I export for editing.

I’m not sure if that’s how others do their workflow, but it’s easier for me if I do it this way.

I don’t recall the original post having this extra information, specifically the RED file info and CPU utilization.

External hard droves, if it’s a paying client. One for every project, unless more space is needed. Cheap and easy.

Here’s the link to download the latest drivers for your video card. Just select your card and choose what OS you’re running. Download the executable and run it:

What model of graphics card do you have? If you’re not sure, go into the Windows Device Manager and double-click the listing for Display Adapter.

See where it lists the fault module, in the System32 folder? That’s for the ATI video card drivers.

Was Vegas working previously? Have you recently changed your GPU without uninstalling the old drivers?

Download the latest drivers for your video card and you should be good to go.

Davinci Resolve is free for the basic version. It’s quite powerful, even for being the free one.

What kind of post is this??

How about adding some information instead of wasting people time.

I would immediately return the computer and obtain a refund. What horrible tech support! Why do they want you to apply the CPU cooler paste? Do they think that their assembly tech forgot to apply it when the built it? Having too much paste is VERY VERY BAD! The less thermal paste, the better.

Get your refund and buy a nice HP workstation, if you don’t know anyone local that can build a computer for you.
