I haven’t encountered that problem but I only have 2 GB RAM. I doubt they have fixed it though. It sounds like they are getting out of the P2 business by their lack of support on everything else.

Thanks Chris. I guess Duel just didn’t sell enough of them. I guess I’ll hang on to one of my P2 Stores as a reader.

Lowel Rifa 1 K Lights with 1/2 blue gel in front give you an inexpensive light with soft box.

I’m going to agree with Shane and Jeremy. Especially since you say some of the clips were up to 12 minutes long. By virtue of the 4GB limit of FAT32 they would have to be spanned internally on each card. It does seem a little weird that it’s not obvious where they are though. Could some of the clips been deleted in camera?

  • Do you have another Duel Adapter to try? They are a little quirky and after a while do wear out. If it is brand new I would guess it is something else but if you have had it for a while it just might be time to replace it. I went through the exact same thing and it turned that the adapter just went bad.

The Duel can be a little quirky but it is the cheapest option. I was a hardcore believer that they were durable as well but just had my first one go bad. I ordered another one because I can’t figure out a cheaper way to ingest. Follow John’s advice on the care.

Is your scratch drive formatted for a PC? You are better off with formatting for a Mac. If you can’t then you can only capture segments around 4GB. Try capturing in segments.

Jeremy is asking how your drive is formatted because it makes a difference. If it is formatted FAT32 it has problems transferring large clips around the 4 GB size. An easy work around until you reformat the drive is to grab the first 5 minutes or so of the clip and transfer it as part 1 then grab from that out point to the end of the clip and call it part 2. You can then string back together in the time line.

I’m a fan of the Pelican 1520. It fits the camera, chargers, batteries, cards and a few other misc items. It’s very sturdy and can be carried on airplanes and stowed in the overhead bins.

The 15″ PowerBook does have the slot. I think Noah is recommending the 17″ because of the screen real estate and the bump in speed. It really is a better investment and shouldn’t cost much more. Avoid the iBooks and MacBooks as they do not have the slot.
