  • Additional info: It was doing this before I upgraded to Build 563, and it’s still doing it. I just opened a project I did last week, and every single one of the video clips showed “media offline” and were opened as audio clips instead of video/audio. These were shot with the Coolpix and worked just fine last week. Today they are useless.

First of all, I am presuming that you use DVD Architect, which allows you to create a scene selection menu, and that you have each menu item set up to play from a particular marker. You should then be able to set the End Action for that menu item to return to the menu rather than continuing to play through the end of the video.

I think what you’re looking for is “End Action”. Set the Command to LINK and the Destination to your main menu.

It seems like there should be something that will show me the peak and the RMS values of the maximum audio levels across an entire track or something. As it is, I’m having to play the entire project in order to find out that there’s a spot where the level goes into the red. Why can’t that be done in software?

I use maps in my videos. These companies spend a LOT of money to produce the maps, and while they will usually give you (written) permission to use them for free if it’s just a quick clip, they will be really upset if you don’t get permission.

December 7, 2008 at 10:43 pm in reply to: Vegas 8.1 / Vista 64 trial

I recently built up a big machine with an Intel Quad core processor, 8GB of RAM, and Vista 64. I then installed Sony Vegas Pro 8.1 on it. It’s about 7 times faster then rendering with my old laptop with 2GB of RAM.

However, it locks up incessantly, and randomly. It may lock up while the splash screen is still displaying. Just never finishes loading. Or it may lock up when I click the Pause button while previewing something in the trimmer. Or it may lock up when I click Play on the main timeline. Or I might go to dinner while it is just sitting there, and when I come back and try to do something, it locks up. Pretty infuriating to have to do a SAVE every time you do the slightest thing. And constantly having to load the Task Manager to blow the thing off and start over. Arrggghhh.

Other than this one application, I have to say that Vista 64 is much more stable with 8GB than the 32-bit OS was.
