The 10.6.8 “Supplemental Update” released today does not fix this problem.

Hmm. Do you have steps to reproduce this? When I simulate the problem by closing the main RED window, I can get the behavior you describe, including activating the individual bins and programs, but the menu bar is RED’s and I can select File/Quit Boris RED and get back to normal.

True, but if you select ProRes444 before the import, that choice will be honored. It’s only because you have a non-alpha codec selected that we force the change.

You can use ProRes444 as an alternate codec that supports alpha.

I think the current version is 9.0.3. So far it has passed all of our tests with v2.0.2 beta, but v2.0.2 is the version that will officially support the latest AJA drivers. So the short answer is yes; the long answer is, um, this 🙂

After you attach the monitor, if that solves the problem, try closing the subsampler windows before you quit the application. That error seems like it would be related to the subsamplers, so possibly if they don’t exist, there won’t be an error next time. Running without a subsampler is kind of difficult, though 🙂

The problem is that all the RED windows are closed but RED is still active. You can see that in the menu bar: it’s RED’s menus, not Media 100 Suite’s. You should be able to exit RED from the menu.

I don’t know much about Red’s internals, but maybe that particular render includes alpha and your chosen ProRes codec doesn’t support alpha?

You could try exporting a reference movie from Media 100 Suite, and then open that movie in QuickTime Player 7 and export it to h.264 from there. Sometimes this is enough to squeeze past what appears to be a bug in h.264.

OK, the original links worked from my home Mac; maybe some network issue. (Actually last night not all of them worked here either, so there might be some problem on the server.) Great concept! I’m no editor or camera man but I do have suggestions for the web page: You still have 2 different incorrect spellings of Chelsea. There are some strange tooltip popups with text like “port_01” and “Lorem ipsum.” The wedding album link was slow and then I think your server crashed; it came back shortly.
