First thing I would do is uninstall the 32-bit version, and make sure your 64-bit version still loads ok.
If it does, try reinstalling the 32 bit version. If that doesn’t work, uninstall both it and the 64-bit version, then reinstall the 32-bit version to see if that works.

You know what guys? I was so sure in my convictions I installed an earlier version of Vegas on my computer to see what it did/didn’t do.
Well, it’s as you guys said. Yup, I can click above/below a track and it’ll advance; or in the empty space along a track. But on the actual media itself is a no go for automatically advancing.
50″ monitor? Yeah, size matters. 🙂 That’s the issue I was running into as I had several video tracks and I wanted to skip ahead in places.
Oh well, it is what it is. Now I have to uninstall this older copy and reinstall my newer version.
Thanks guys!

Thanks. I’m not looking for Adobe system requirements.
What I am wanting to know is if anyone knows which GPU card works better with Photoshop and other Adobe products? Both cards support the OpenGL standard; nVidia also has CUDA.

The two laptops I was looking at I was going to upgrade to the 2820QM processor.
What I don’t know if one will make a difference over the other is one laptop has the nVidia GTX 460M video card, and the other has the nVidia Quadro 4000 video card. The latter is on a laptop that’s supposedly designed for CAD/Engineering programs rather than gaming.

Gentlemen,
With all due respect, if you’re going to debate about “caps” and ISP’s, please take it offline or create another thread since it has absolutely nothing to do with the original topic of this post.
Thank you.

I’ve had this happen before too with different versions of Vegas.
There’s probably some left over Registry entries and/or folders/files on your drive.
I’m not sure how computer savy you are, but I would try a complete removal of both, reboot, and then just reinstall Vegas 10.
If that doesn’t work, what I had to do (with another software package, not Vegas) is download Revo Uninstaller Pro:
https://www.revouninstallerpro.comas that scans for and removes left over registry entries and files.
So if you have to go that route, reinstall Vegas Pro 8, then use Revo Uninstaller to remove everything, reboot, then try installing Vegas Pro 10.
Hope this helps.

As David mentions in a follow up response, I think for the majority of Vegas users viewing the “preview” is where the most time is spent.
When there’s several video layers with complex effects and transitions that we have to keep previewing to make sure everything lines up just right, it would be nice if Vegas would take advantage of the GPU so there’s barely any noticeable slowdown in showing us the preview.
Otherwise, having to constantly “selectively render” sections of the video and/or generating “dynamic ram” previews takes up so much more time.
So my take is if Vegas has to compile those instructions together to “render” the frames out to a file, in which case it passes that off through the GPU, then they should be able to program it so the preview does as well.
Extremely simplified pseudocode below: 🙂
if (going_through_render_process == true) {
if (isCudaEnabled == true) {
currentProcessedFrame = renderFrameUsingCuda();
if (isRenderingToFile == true) {
renderToFile();
} else {
renderToPreviewScreen();
}
} else {
currentProcessedFrame = renderFrameUsingCPU();
}
}
Like I said, extremely simplified, but should be doable.PS: I like the play on names with yours and the name of your company. 🙂

Another option is you can do a split-screen affect showing both videos at once.
Is that what you want? If so, just Google for “sony vegas pro split screen” and watch any of the tutorial videos that come back as the search results.
Good luck!

Is this solved? If not, can you post a screen capture showing your project with the missing envelope and the video track affected?
