  • How to playl from left-mouse click?

Posted by Dave Lozinski on July 23, 2011 at 10:19 am

    Hey all,

Pretty basic question here which I’m having a hard time figuring out.

I’m using Vegas 10 and I swear I used to, when a video was playing, left-click somewhere else in the video track and then Vegas would start playing from that location automatically.

However, this functionality seems to have stopped. Instead, all it does it relocate a flashing vertical line.

How do I enable play-from-where-i-left-click functionality?

    Thanks!

The behavior is still there but only for video. As soon as you add an audio track the behavior changes. If you delete the audio track leaving all video tracks it changes back again. I don’t know if this is on purpose or not.

I can do this as long as I click in a blank space below the timeline.

Yea, it seems to be if you click the timeline tracks just the cursor moves but if you click outside of the tracks on the empty timeline it moves the playback head.

    That’s been my experience too.
It becomes difficult as you get more and more tracks on the timeline.
    A 50″ monitor might help 🙂

I recall that this is the same behavior as long as I’ve used Vegas.

You know what guys? I was so sure in my convictions I installed an earlier version of Vegas on my computer to see what it did/didn’t do.

Well, it’s as you guys said. Yup, I can click above/below a track and it’ll advance; or in the empty space along a track. But on the actual media itself is a no go for automatically advancing.

50″ monitor? Yeah, size matters. 🙂 That’s the issue I was running into as I had several video tracks and I wanted to skip ahead in places.

Oh well, it is what it is. Now I have to uninstall this older copy and reinstall my newer version.

    Thanks guys!
