Aha! That does make sense. This is my first real consistent use with a FCP/Kona setup, so I figured these little things would come up like this as we went along! Thanks for the explanation, I figured someone in the Kona threads would definitely know what the deal was – the FCP forum seems to be inundated with “how do I add a dissolve” type questions…not engineer/real tech questions!
Thanks again.

We generally don’t have any video going in to the system on output – but I’ll give that a whirl. I never really thought of that, but it kind of makes sense. I think it might be a bit odd to patch some video in to the system on an output!! We do have a house ref signal going in (SD 29.97) – but I’m assuming you mean and actual video signal, right?

Hey Gary,
Thanks for the insight! I kind of thought it was a little bit of trial and error based on decks, but just wanted to make sure it wasn’t uh…”user error” – because that never happens!!!!
It’s been a while since we’ve done such heavy outputs in FCP so jumping back into the fire so quickly is always fun!
Thanks again,
Dave

My boss was a major AVID guy, and we finally set up our first FCP room a short time ago – anytime we hit a snag with our AJA products I would tell him I’m calling support…to which he replied “we don’t have a contract do we, how much is that going to cost???”
I just laughed and walked away….they really are great, and I’m glad I can say that without any reservation. Other companies should take note on how to HELP the customer, it’s an amazing concept…

I’m starting to go in and tweak the memory cache stuff now, it’s weird that there isn’t something that “automagically” uses your system to it’s full potential, right? I’ll have to look more into nucleo, I think they offer a free demo to see how it all works.
Thanks for the input, this is why I turn to the cow so often!

Awwwwww man!
Looks like I was on a hot trail back in January!
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/150/856483?Kudos to AJA and apple playing together nicely in the sandbox of NLE and IO devices. I’m pretty excited to see how the product works. If it’s anything like my IO, it will be rock solid for life!

No problem, but like Bob said everyone’s setup is a little different then the next, so it might work…and it might not. If you do give it a whirl, let me know! I think I’ve backed everything up so I’m just prepping for the system refresh…good times.

” I have just built a system with 5.1.4, with no issues, but as you know, all these setups are not consistant. Certainly, doing a true “clean install”, where you reload your OS, would resolve these issues, but I realize how painful and time consuming this is.”
That’s good to hear that you have it running fine, that is definitely encouraging!
I know a true clean install will be painful and time consuming, but it might be time – I’ve had the system for a few years now and I’m sure it’s overdue. Besides, I really love painful and time consuming things – that’s why I made the switch from promo editing to hour long series editing!
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Hey Bob,
Sorry – I may have not been 100% clear. I uninstalled the ProIO packages and everything was fine, worked great. But I re-installed the ProIO drivers etc and I get the crashing at startup. If I uninstall them, I still get the crashing.
I’m just trying to figure out if anyone else is having any problems with 5.1.4 and the IO drivers like I am. I couldn’t even get 5.1.2 to work properly with the drivers. I think I’ve narrowed it down to just the IO drivers and packages, but I’m just not sure.
I’m even thinking of just doing a clean install of OSX and going from there. It’s kind of driving me nuts – this is the first time I’ve ever run into any problem of this type in 2 years!
