Ah dang….sorry, I think I explained that a little wrong!

So, currently the script finds the next marker and fades in/out if I have a slider above “0” – what I’d like it to do is actually find the 2nd marker down the timeline (so not the next one, but the one after that) to have the fade in/out action.

Does that make more sense? Sorry, I just threw the word keyframes there and made my question waaaaayyy more confusing!

Thanks for taking a look at it!

  • I did have a much better day today they previously – I think a problem we were having were sharing projects – I knew in the back of my head, GPU acceleration was project based…but so if I opened up a project that was started in our 1 room that has an old AMD card in it (no GPU acceleration)…when it opens in our other rooms it automagically does nothing (total sarcasm).

So some of the issues we were seeing were related to that…we still get a little studdery playback on green rendered sections the second we hit plan, within a second it will be fine, but we really are not a fan of starting playback (especially if a client is with us) twice to watch something down.

Playback in the GTX 760 or in the Quadra 4000 seems to be about the same…so I think we’re getting somewhere. I also went through and deleted the DVCPro output component…defnitely not needed in our setups.

I’m still wondering if DNxHD QT wrapped sequences are an issue (not the pre-made DNxHD sequence that comes with the systems)…does anyone have any definitive results on DNxHD playback/performance using the OP1a MXF wrapping vs. QT wrapping? How about vs. ProRes? Thanks for everyone chiming in!

  • Hey Chris,

Thanks for chiming in! We are using (on one system) a GTX 760 (I put the wrong card in my first post) that has 4GB RAM and 5x the CUDA cores (around 1200 cores) a Quadro 4000 has (around 256 cores). I do have a spare quadro 4000 laying around that I just installed and seeing if we have some increase/decrease in performance…but the GTX card is in theory much more robust (more ram, more cores) so I am hoping my guess is right!

We have only been able to run in software mode on most of our systems to get them to behave even somewhat normally.

Is there anything in particular in the QT Plugin folder to look out for?

    Thanks!

  • Yeah – we’re actually abandoning Premiere for now, going back to FCP which is painful in itself…but good to know 7.2.2 is stable. Many of the new features in 2014 are exactly what we use on a daily basis (like the masking!) so it is a bit of a bummer downgrading is our only option right now.

    Thanks, I appreciate the input!

We are going to an HDCAM deck – an HDWF500. I’ve contacted AJA and they can’t quite seem to replicate the issue. We’ve been double/triple checking our settings on the deck but in theory if it can lay off to tape in FCP, AJA Control Panel, and Avid then the deck setup is probably where it should be. I can’t seem to locate any white papers on deck settings that premiere might have differently then other NLE’s, but I doubt it would be that drastically different.

As I said, we can print to tape fine, insert edit fine…but just can’t assemble edit (which is unfortunately most of our work!). It seems to lockup at the in point of the video. Our deck is set to the following:

    -Internal Regen for timecode
    -Run Record (not free run)
-Reference set to internal, we have 525 black burst generator running to the the edit and deck

I shouldn’t have to send it 1080i/59.59 sync – but might try that in the morning. Sorry for the delayed in replays…I keep forgetting to check back on the forum!

It’s just really strange that we can lay off in the AJA tool, FCP, and Avid all fine with the same settings…but there might be something I’m missing…actually good chance that I am 🙂

    Hey Guys,

Wanted to see if you had any resolution on this? We have the exact same scenario, OS, drivers, etc. Weird thing is we can print to tape just fine, and insert to tape just fine…we do 95% assembly edit from pre-blacked tapes of large timelines…so it is a bit frustrating for us!

We double checked out setting in the AJA control panel and they are all set to the correct settings, and we can output from FCP just fine. It just seems to sit there when we assemble.

I’m really interested to see what they do with the new i/o stuff. I’m afraid you won’t know until some firmware update comes out and someone says “oh yeah, by the way….”

It figures I sold our 3D extreme for a Kona last month just as I tried out DaVinci and fell in love with it…we just had too many inexplicable issues with our BMD 3d card.

Interesting – we too have been having issues with our brand new system – I noticed BMD released 7.9.4 recently…we might try that to fix it. We are literally running on a brand new install, new mac pro, nothing really crazy. If we have to output to tape we literally have to restart the system every time…and we are only doing promo material.

That sounds weird for sure – did you try going out of your BMD card into your monitor, then your switched out (if you monitor has it) goes to ultrascopes to see if it’s the same result?

Just got my HD Link Extreme set up yesterday and still figuring out all the little things I’m not used to coming from a Kona 3 setup….

Hmm – we are still awaiting our cable delivery – but have you tried different HDMI inputs? I know on our 7000 series HDMI’s 1-4 accept different types of designated signals (although they should all be the same really!) – I also know our’s doesn’t really accept anything nicely but 1080 29.97 signals – 59.94 signals and 23.98psf sends the TV into a tail spin. Have you tried regular outputs (2d) to your TV to make sure that is at least working?
