Took me 17 minutes to unique reel name 90 minute prog, 800 edits. 8 weeks edit (not by me but respecting the work done so far!!), 17 minutes not so bad in my workflow to change 120 un-reel ID’d shots. If QTCHANGE does this well then thats good too….I don’t regret my 17 minutes carefully prepping for a feature length grade. Let us know how well it works.

Click in the REEL column in the FCP Browser. Enter a unique reel ID for each Canon clip (or, any exported/flattened composites) and your set to export EDL. Resolve will not recognise a TC clash due to the unique reel naming. Happy conforming!

You can force a ‘dummy’ reel ID into FCP before making an EDL, for all your ‘non reel ID’ canon clips. This then allows Resolve to recognise the clips without conflict even though all start from 00:00:00:00 TC.

This little unit looks like a great find!!! Looks like it will help me overcome my current frustration of not being able to quickly copy/paste grades on a tangent wave! Is “Launchpad Pro” specific software needed? I cant find it? Can source launchpad hardware and Quickkeys, just checking if it is an extra bit of software required in addition? Got a 90 minute BBC documnetary to grade next week so this could be a nice little help!!

September 5, 2005 at 1:38 pm in reply to: AJA Io now Apple Qualified for FCP5

Very pleased for you guys. So, now that it is qualified, can I see the test results made to qualify the quality of the analogue audio output of the IO box. I still maintain that it is unacceptably higher than the input…easy to prove. Digitise a test tone. Don’t touch it in FCP. Play it out again…Its louder.

I was running a thread on this a few weeks ago. The IO definately increases the output level by a considerable amount. The new driver Version 2.0 is available on the AJA web site. When you open the Pro IO control Panel you can click on the ‘control’ tab and there you can select +18dBu or +24 dBu for analogue audio settings. I didn’t find that it made any difference. Maybe someone from AJA can shed some light on the analogue output of their IO and why it is increasing gain by so much?

Are you saying that even monitoring from the soundcard, the same is true? ie. can you not run a line from the soundcard to your speakers, desk etc.

July 8, 2005 at 7:34 pm in reply to: No audio meters during capture

OK, so I get the idea that this feature doesn’t work. This is an important tool, despite the inacuracy of these style meters, they still give an idea of what is going in to the system. I am very surprised that this has been overlooked, or needs to be requested as a voted style feature, being very new to FCP (V5.0 only.) I will vote for it on the apple site anyway and lets hope! (any chance of the video overlay being smoother during capture too ? … and yes, I do have an output monitor!!!!)
    ; )))
