I recently finished a webisode series shot 4k red. That material bounced back and forth from final cut to the resolve, and back to final cut for the final comps, vfx and sound. The editor and I had it working out fairly well. Yes, I had a few extra steps but found the trade off for the color corrector was well worth it.
I finished several films in fcp color and did not find it an easy round trip. I was able to do the job, just not in the capacity and speed I am accustom to working with professional tools.NOTE: The comments above are strictly mine, and may not necessarily

The 2008 works great, but real time playback is on the very edge of being useable.
dpx is a must. Compressed codecs are problematic. What will play on your macbook in final cut pro will not play real time in the resolve application.My 2007 MacPro 2,1 replaced my g4 MacPro and is now neighbors with my 2008 MacPro 3,1. Coming soon a 2011 12 core MacPro ?,1..
It sure would be nice to upgrade and avoid buying a new tower every two years.

I’ve had similar issues but found that it was the preview output (video card) causing the artifact. My dpx renders were free of artifacts when checked outside program.

I work in 2k and 4k all the time.. I keep the timeline consistent to source data and scale on the output for my display (2k or hd). For powermastering hd layoffs I change both the input and output to hd and size properly on the output formatter. As rohit noted i change everything back to 2k or 4k and render for the final.

Good news Mr Kucherov. If I could stop killing zombie’s I might pin down the exact settings that cause the crash on my system. Then again if your not seeing it, maybe its not an issue at all. Back to the zombies. The wife and I are shooting for level 20.
This may be another issue with my tired old mac. 🙂

ok it locks down the panels but not applying from a still.. Ouch.. I think this needs to be fixed.
How I would deal with this is:
