    Warren,

Do you need to render to get the window burns to play out the sdi card? Forgive in i’m wrong but it was my understanding that in the current resolve you must render to get burn in’s to tape.
Does the mac version have the ability to play out with burn ins without a render pass using advanced power mastering.. And does the cache mode take longer than a render.

I use this function all the time.
There are two types of power mastering in the current linux version.
Source files are 2k and I output to hdcam sr or d5. It gets a bit tricky cause each power mastering type works a bit differently. I hope to get my software and dongle very soon to test the new mac ver.

Great question. The current (davinci) linux version does make one type of quick time, no audio, and an uncompressed monster file.
I have a call into black magic and except a response and a working demo very soon. Stay tuned its about to get very interesting.. 🙂

The current versions we use has a scope built in however we still monitor the sdi out to an external scope rather than use the internal one.
I have the ultra scope at home and it works very good as well.
I think i’m going to pick up that cute little mini posted above just for fun..

  • Thanks Peter,

No need to try what I hate doing. The process slows down so much when forced to look at the screen rather than just hit a button my brain is mapped to hit.

As as a user who enjoys the current / old resolve panel set and has corrected entire features with the mouse and keyboard, the panel upgrade is a no brainer. As soon as it can be afforded I will shelf my wave and move up to the latest black magic set.

And you are so correct in saying.

“the BMD Resolve panels look so cool in the suite.”
add some scopes, a touch screen router, lighting controls and it looks like a star trek episode.. The clients eat it up..

  • You might be able to run without one however I’m not sure it would be very efficient. I know many people use the lustre without one. I will try it Monday and let you know.

The wave is only $1500 in my opion worth the price tag.

Can I ask some more quetions?
Will it do 3d? Do you have any render benchmarks? Have you seen a list of tested and compatible hardware?

    Hi Dennis,

From what I have heard they have only mapped usb control surfaces for the mac version. I’m sure someone will get ethernet devices working very shortly after its release.
