Did you render your QuickTime MOV with an alpha and a codec that supports alpha? Is the alpha interpreted correctly in AE?

April 8, 2013 at 8:21 pm in reply to: Ramping high Frame rates back to real time using phantom footage[Wim Steytler] “So for arguments sake – we shoot a shot at 1000fps and I want to ramp it back to 25fps(realtime) in post.
From what I hear it looks terrible as I have to loose frames and add motionblur.”I’d recommend shooting some tests. You shouldn’t see much of an issue going from 1000fps to 25fps. Sure you’re losing frames but you wouldn’t have had those frames to begin with if you shot at 25fps. Doing this with the built-in Timewarp or Re:vision FX’s Twixtor should work.

April 8, 2013 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Can’t apply wiggle(n1,n2) expression onto both Position and Orientation parameter 🙁[Sebastian Lee] “Layer 1: Camera [apple wiggle onto Position and Orientation]
Layer 2: Null object [parent it to Camera]
Layer 3: Footage [parent it to Null object]”If you actually set your composition up this way you won’t see any wiggle.
The Null parented to the camera will stay locked to the camera movement, and the footage parented to the Null will stay locked to the Null’s movement (and therefore camera’s). Since the footage and the camera would be moving in step with one another you would not see any perceived motion of the footage when looking through the camera.
Makes sense?

You should be able to use an External Compositing tag on the Cloner object so long as the ‘Cache’ option is enabled.
This is probably a better question for the Cinema 4D forum.

April 8, 2013 at 2:06 pm in reply to: How come my sharp-edged text becomes jagged after rendered movie?[Sebastian Lee] “Basically what you see is NOT what you get.”
Are you rendering to a codec like MPEG-2 or H.264 that uses a low rate of chroma sampling? Is your text (or the background it’s on) a very saturated color?

April 7, 2013 at 5:50 am in reply to: Adding text to an animated shape layer (without losing/recreating all the keyframes!)If I were doing this I would create separate shape layers for the pink and blue shapes. Then I’d parent the blue layer to the pink layer and the word “online” to the blue layer. Finally I’d animate the position of the pink layer so that it slides off screen as the blue layer and the text layer slide on. Does that work in your case?

[Simon Roughan] “Keylight has version 2.2. How can I update it for After Effects?”
You cannot. See here for more information:

April 5, 2013 at 9:07 pm in reply to: Adding text to an animated shape layer (without losing/recreating all the keyframes!)[val denelia] “I’ve already animated a shape (a stroked path) in a layer, with many keyframes.
I am now being asked to add a word to that shape.”
It’s hard to choose the correct answer out of the field of possible solutions given your description. There’s a lot of missing information. What do you currently have keyframed? The path? The position? Where is the word supposed to be added to the path? Should it treat the path as its baseline? Does the text need to travel along the path?
It would be easiest if you post either a project file or an image of what you have and a mock up of what you want.

Can you post the offending images?
