    there is no native after effects renderer for UNIX.

    if you plan on editing in FCP in HD, then you better have some real fast drives.
    if not, then you could render out 2 passes. id do one to dvcproHD and a second can be 2 animation ( though i would use the decklink codec since i have a blackmagic card).

    you can then offline your cut in FCP in realtime making whatever editing you need to do. then relink the clips to your “uncompressed” render for final output.

    it sounds like the issue is when you are exporting out of the avid.

    how are you getting the video out to squeeze?

    quick and dirty…

    place said comp in to a new, longer comp.

    enable time remapping for the orig comp layer and stretch the piece to the new length you desire.

    as long as there is no moving footage, it should look perfect

    set the trk matte on the bubbles to use the arc as an inverted alpha.
