And this is exactly what I come here for! Thanks Bob, what you have described as a wonderful system is exactly the kind of thing I will go for.
I realise it was only for my own selfish appeasement that I needed to be dissuaded from my fantasy of gaffer taping two machines together and calling it a shared storage system.
The purpose is just for my personal and occasional freelance work conducted from my modest study space at home. Nevertheless I shouldn’t have indulged in such unprofessional notions.
DO NOT GIVE UP THE FIGHT we need your insights now more than ever!

Just checking in to say I found that this occurs when continuously rasterize is switched on for that layer. Looks to be the way things are supposed to work I just must have never encountered a situation where I noticed before.

Thank you all for your help. I’ve spoken with the vendor and they’ve agreed the EonNAS was not designed for video playback.
So we’ll leave it at that.

Hi Bob,you may have jumped the gun here. In my first post I mentioned this had been purchased from one of the leading specialist broadcast and video storage companies in my country. I don’t see it necessary to name them.
So no, when given a budget of $30k I didn’t think I’d have a crack at it myself. The alarm bells have just gone off in my head as we’ve had a few problems already and I’m wondering if the product sold to us is the best or even usable for our situation.

Hi Eric, the NAS is connected to the switch via 10GbE. Then the machines connect to the switch via GbE.
I’ve been doing graphics jobs just fine and other have been transferring large chunks of data to the switch for a few days now without issue. It’s only when one of the editors reported their video playback problem did I think something was wrong.
So yes the system has been tested with about 6 users attached, 3 or four of which would have been hitting 110MB/s at the same time for hours on end a few days in a row.
It’s just the realtime video playback that seems to be the issue.

Thanks for your comment Simon… yes I’m sure Bob will comment as well 😉
It was purchased from a very reputable reseller in our area on their recommendation, they are also investigating but I’m looking to speed up the process and further my own knowledge hence the questions.
I’ll go through and enable these features as you’ve mentioned.

UPDATE – The new Resolve 9.0.3 Lite solved it for me.

Sorry to revive this thread but I’m also having the same problem.
I can import F65 .mxf media from a previous project: HDCAM-SR 444 1080p25
but not HDCAM-SR HQ RGB12 1080p25Clips just don’t show up in the folders.
They open in Quicktime and Final Cut 7 perfectly.I’m using the Lite version of Resolve 9.
I think the latter of my material is 12 bit… is that the problem and is there a way to fix it?

Hi Michael, thanks for your quick reply!
I’ll try and get some time to set up a test project before the real thing, but opening the bins from the 50p project sounds really helpful.
I think I will go with the main 25p project as you’ve suggested.Yes you can directly use the 5D and 7D media with V5, we have had this going on both MC and Symphony V5 suites however there is a terrible lag when using this method, I really found it too frustrating and vowed never to go there again!
Best regards,
Danny
