Wow. Vegas doesn’t change on it’s own. If you did nothing, like installed a codec pack between when it played and it didn’t, then you may have virus that’s corrupting files, or some intermittened hardware problem like bad ram. Do you have a clean image backup you can restore to? Also which file palyed back? the avi or flv? I cannot import flv files into pro 9. Also I have never seen any file be compressed to 1/100 of it’s original size. 780 meg to 8 meg???
Where are these flash video coming from? -
Yes. If you have a converter that can render flash to AVI thats not DVIX or XVID avi, Vegas will work with AVI files.

I don’t believe Vegas can import Flash video. I haven’t been successfull with it anyway.

John, What’s that program you talk about, Ultimate something, where you can make SD proxies, edit, then replace with original footage before rendering. This might help him, do you think?

I have the tm700 and its tapeless. I absolute love it. The 1080 60p is stunning looking. John is right about avchd being very sluggish on anything but an I7 I built one for under a grand. Tm700 is $750
My I7 handles the 60p with ease. I helieve I recently read a post of jJohns on a tapeless hdv camera though. -
I know of a way to save any video that my computer plays that has worked for me in the past. Any video, pic, ect. is stored in your temporary internet folder. Find that folder and delete everything in it, it may take a while. Then watch your Avatar video, then look in the folder and the largest file should be your video in flash format. Then convert it to avi with a video converting program. There’s alot of free ones out there.
Also theres a free toolbar called Freecorder that allows you to record all audio and video I believe played on your computer. here’s the free download link for that.

(I am rendering in 1080 60i to mt2). This is in his second post. I read it wrong and thought he typed m2t. Hope this is a typo. Is there a mt2 format?

OK. Your camera is shooting HDV 1080-60i (1440×1080,29.97 fps). Your project settings should be set to exactly the same as your footage. Open a new project, under file/properties, select this setting in your template. Also make sure in your Options/Preferences, that enable no-recompress long GOP rendering is checked. Now with these settings, you should be able to put a m2t file from the camera on the timeline as is, with no effects, fades or anything that changes the rendered video from the original, Vegas will not recompress the file, meaning very little render time for that event. Try opening a new project with the settings as I stated above, put the original png file on the timeline, put the curser somewhare in the event area so it shows up in the preview window, set your preview window quality to Best/Full, and click the floppy icon in the preview window to take a jpeg pic if it at your 1440×1080 aspect ratio, put the newly made jpeg in the beginning of the timeline only as before. Now if you have no effects, fades, video overlapping other video, so that other than the area where the logo is, there is absolutly no change to the rendered file as the original m2t files, Vegas should only render the area where the logo is since the rendered video will be different there, then the rest of the render should take little or no time since your not changing it at all from the original, and your preview window should say “No recompression required”. I just tried it by making a new project with these settings, put a one minute and ten seconds m2t file on the timeline, rendered to the same HDV 1080-60i (1440×1080,29.97 fps) and it took one minute and four seconds to render, and this is on a dual core laptop, and my preview window said “No re-compression required”. Following these instructions should make a world of difference in your render times. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I built an i7 for under 1000$ and it works with the Shuttle, has the x58 chipset and usb 3. see this link for MBs. Take the envy back.
