Thanks for your responce Mike. I don’t have a DV camera anymore and my HVR-A1 is out for a second repair they didn’t fix it the first time, so I don’t have any firewire cameras to test with. For Evers sake, how do you switch once you’ve checked the “Always use the selected format” box?
Here’s the window we’re talking about that doesn’t show up after checking this?

Ever, for now you can use other capture apps to switch between DV and HDV. Here’s some good info I found on one of Steve Manns post.
For capturing DV tape, I always use scenalyzer live (https://www.scenalyzer.com/)
For HDV tape I use HDV Split (https://www.videohelp.com/tools/HDVSplit).

At least until someone can figure this out, short of reloading Vegas.

I don’t understand your answer Steve. That’s where you select your default video capture program. After reading his post, I selected HDV and checked always use this, and I can’t get the option to capture DV or HDV back either. I tried holding down cntl and shift while launching Vegas but the capture option for DV or HDV won’t show up still. I searched the help file and this forum and can’t find how to get that option back. Now I’m really curious. 😉

The Intensity card and Shuttle, with Media Express can capture as Motion JPEG avi to one 7200 rpm drive, a raid array is needed for the 8 and 10 bit uncompressed. I use the Shuttle to capture straight from the imager of my HDV camera, bypassing the .m2t compression. The quality is defently superior to HDV 1080i. I use the MJPEG and the quality is very good.

It’s harder to get a compatible PC that handles the Shuttle than the card.

If you do want the Shuttle, I reccommend the Asus P6DX58 Premium
It has the right chipset and 2 compatible USB 3 ports. I use one at work and at home, both work perfect.

That’s a good sign. Maybe there’s just a compatibility issue with your new machine, or that express slot.

Frank. Yes, that’s the card. It comes with a breakout cable for your analog ins and outs. Yes you can print to tape from Vegas, but not in the way you can to a DV camera or deck. There’s no device control for that Deck, so you’ll have to start it recording and then play the video. you should probably render it out so Windows media player or Vegas has full preview rate since you’ll be recording it analog.

The Intensity Shuttle works great, but BM is very specific on the MB Chipset and USB 3 bandwidth.
