I built an i7 with an Intensity Shuttle,it’s USB 3 and has a few different capture settings but should otherwise work the same as your Intensity Pro card. Vegas 10 does allow you to use it as an external preview monitor, at the setting your Vegas preview monitor is set to, meaning it only shows what your preview window shows, capturing and playing back. You cannot use the Intensity Pro as a Windows external monitor though. At the time I built this PC, I only had an HDV camera, which makes an .m2t compressed file. So I got the Shuttle and capture component from it as Motion JPEG AVI with Media Express, the software that comes with the Intensity products. This is a better format as I bypass the .m2t compression captured via firewire and capture straight from the camera imager. I can capture through my shuttle with Vegas Pro 10 but only as HD422 mxf or 8+bit YUV AVI which requires a raid array. If your capturing with the Intensity, I would use Media Express, which capture and playback come out of all the Intensity video outputs. Why are you using the Intensity card? If it’s for preview only, there are video cards that support three monitors. But as to your questions, yes you can have three monitors with your system in Vegas. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

You need to lower the output of the source device. If you clip, or square wave the wave, you can’t fix that. There are some good external audio interfaces that can attenuate the input levels, usb and firewire.

There was a problem with the recording, or capturing to PC. It looks like there is no waveform for one channel. Other than making that event a mono audio track can you have it come through both speakers.

What Steve said is true guys. If it’s washed out to the point it’s white, you have no way of getting back what may have been there, like clouds. You can use the color curve, highs and boost blue to get the white to look blue, but all other white in the shot will get the same effect.

I think the difference your seeing with your brothers Finalcut is the Macs display adapter. I have a 6 year old HP laptop and connect it to a Samsung 46″ 1080p HDTV and it looks better that my desktop i7 as well as my Sony Vaio i7 HDMI outputs. A good video card can make all the difference.

I don’t believe a screen capture program would give you good results with high framerate video games, even Camtasia. People are having success with the Blackmagic Intensity devices as well as the Hauppauge. Still nothing yet to capture 1080 60p from XBOX, 360 games yet that I know of.

I should add Vegas does generate midi timecode so you can have midi instruments or other computers chace it.

Sony does make Acid that has midi capabilities. To bad Vegas doesn’t do this. I prefer Cakewalk Sonar to Acid. It comes with great audio effects and virtual instruments.

OK, here’s something I found that will play 1080 60p mp4, and wmv.
D-link Boxee Box. Under $200 and it plays them back fine. It chokes on the native .mts files from our Pannys but Vegas encoded mp4 and wmv at 28 mbps vids play smooth. It even has wifi and streams HD from the net.I just connect a portable usb drive to it for the 1080 60p videos.
