( You just need a very fast RAID to play it back on.)
I put a solid state drive in my Sony I7 laptop and it plays back, edits fine without a raid drive setup. So does my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 I5. But these are Windows machines, not Apple. I tried Mavericks and FCX but my version of Protools didn’t work on it. So I’m still on OS7. FC of course only runs on a Mac, Just looking to see if FC supports it now. I haven’t tried After Effects or Premiere on a Mac yet, but I can make custom project and render presets for 1080 60p on Windows 7 and 8.1 with After Effects, Sony Vegas pro and Premiere. In fact I can use my Black Magic intensity Shuttle USB 3 and capture 1080 avi uncompressed 8 and 10 bit without dropping a frame on my SS drive laptop and Surface Pro 3 I5. I was shocked to see them do that. -
I like that caption assistant plugin. I didn’t know about it.
If you don’t have a text file of what was said at the wedding. If the voice is clear enough in the wedding video, you can use Google voice to capture the voice to text in most email providers. If have an Android smart phone or IPhone, you can use your email account on it. I use Yahoo mail, and I opened up any email, clicked reply to pull up the keyboard and there’s a little microphone icon in the lower left of the keyboard. Press it and you will see a red “Speak” icon which means it’s ready to capture the voice to test. Hold the phone up to the speaker that the wedding video is playing out of and it will type what is said on the video. It will be pretty accurate if the voice is clear. You may get some wrong spelled words if it’s not real clear, but it’s better than having to type the whole dialog yourself. Send the email to yourself and you can copy and paste the text from the email into Vegas. Just add a new video track above the wedding video track. Go to media generators tab and select text and drag it into the new video track. I like the default since it doesn’t put a black box around the text Use the space bar to make the text in sync with the voice. You can resize and reposition and change the font type text how ever you want. Hope this helps. I haven’t been on this forum in quite a while.

I just bought a Surface Pro 3 tablet running Windows 8.1 It has a USB3 port and works with the USB shuttle, even 10 bit uncompressed 1080p.

Sony Vaio PCG-81312L. A few years old and probably not made anymore. Check Ebay. I have two of them. Put a solid state drive in one and it now captures 1080 AVI uncompressed 10 bit without dropping any frames.

Do you have your wifi switch turned off? Are you using desktop installer 7.9.4 Media express 2.3? My laptop will even do it on just the battery.

Sorry to take so long Joe. I did a fresh install of W7 64 bit. Ultimate. I did some capturing from an HDMI source with it, no that long though. Let me know how it goes with you. Danny Hays

I believe this option came out with Vegas 10 I think, well hidden but useful for slower machines. I do think it should be off by default though.

Maybe I misunderstood the question, but can’t you duplicate the track, add a color gradient in a track above, select rectangle or elliptical transparent to black and adjust it to select the area you want to lighten and brighten that track, then adjust the level of the un-lightened track (1)to mix with the lightened track (3)? Then lighten up the whole output to compensate for lowering the first track by adding a brightness and contrast effect to the preview effects?
