It makes a big difference depending on the type video your editing as well. For example, If you use a gopro, Rendering the original mp4 will take much longer than if you use GoPro Studio and render to uncompressed avi. As far as using a multi drive raid, I get great results using solid state drives. I personaly don’t use raid drive systems as I can capture anything I’ve tried using SSD’s without dropping frames, including 1080P 30 fps 10 bit uncompressed avi on an I7 sony Laptop, and even a I5 Surface Pro 3.
I don’t believe the drive is the bottle neck in your case. Rendering video uses the Processor way more than Drive read and write. -
No need to panic. I would first make sure there’s enough space on the drive you’re rendering to. Then I would try a different small video, and see if you can render it to one of Vegas’s presets and see if it works. If not, I would uninstall Vegas, remove any Sony Vegas folders in Windows explorer and reinstall Vegas. If your version of Vegas ever worked on that computer, a re-install should help.

Sorry for the delay. Once the fisheye removal tool is applied to the videos in gopro studio, the side stretch damage is done. I don’t know how to fix that.
If you still have the originals, Here’s a start out preset for wide setting. All three, wide, med, and narrow settings on the camera have some amount of fisheye effect. The best way is to shoot a short video or even a pic of a grid with the camera exactly perpendicular to the center of the grid with the grid filling the screen, in wide, med and narrow. Then import each into Vegas and start with the preset in the pics. One pic shows what’s happening to the shape of the shot. Then use the track motion to zoom in until the black inward bow effects are cropped out. save each setting in the deform effect as wide, med and narrow. -
Since your clip doesn’t contain a transparent alpha channel, you can still key out the black and get what you want.

4K only lets you shoot in wide.

I just got the Hero 4 black. I experienced the same side stretch problem with Go-pro studio. So I played around with Vegas’s deform video effect. I made a real quick comparison video on the results you can see here. Sorry about the mic noise. I used a lav and held it in my hand. Didn’t want to remake it. LOL

Hi Johnny, I was a Creative Cow Sony Vegas pro and basics leader for years. There was a time where I could Google Danny Hays and I filled the whole first screen search. At the top of your preview screen where you have it set to Full good, just to the left of that is a split screen square icon. Click that to turn off split screen.

I have two Panasonic avchd cameras. they use .mts files. have you tried that format? I never really use my cameras for playback.
