When import from camcorder disc doesn’t work you can import media, then drop down type and select all files, then the VOB files will show up and can be dragged to the timelilne. But before you can edit, you have to save as and copy media to a hard drive, otherwise your computer will still try and read the files from the DVD.

Drives are cheap now days so I do the save as and copy media to an external drive with any important projects, and turn off that drive when not saving to or recovering from. I use pics and videos from various drives, even shared drives from other computers. Once all the media, including generated media is copied to the backup drive, the editing changes are stored with the .veg files which are usally small and throw them on a thumb drive for backup instead of turning on the backup drive everytime I want to save and backup editing if no media is added. You can also right click in the the track header of the track you want to slaw down and add velocity envelope, then drag the envelope line down to slow it down and the opposite to speed it up. you can double click on the velocity line to add points to work between if you wish. Hope this helps,

Do you mean GSPOT? I never heard of gstring.

I would make yout computer screen completely green, with Windows display settings, record a video of the monitor with the green screen, then chromakey out the green with the picture you want on the track underneath. This way even if the monitor was not square or has rounded corners, the picture will still fit perfectly. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

I turn off scene detection and capture as one m2t file. I don’t know why your getting many small files. HDVSplit is a free HDV capture utility you can try. To capture in DV, I have to set my camera to downconvert to DV and capture as if the camera was a DV camera. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

If you have a ton of tracks with effects, it could. But just converting from m2t to wmv, no. What are your computer specs?

I render HDV to the same WMV preset you used, The one at the bottom of the WMV dropdown list. 1440 1080 8 mbps and they look great. It takes a fast computer to playback these videos though. 2.8 duo core is what Microsoft claims. I don’t see any interlacing on my videos rendered to this format. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
