If you want the DVD to play in a regular outboard DVD player, then yes you must render as DVD compliant mpeg-2 or use their DVD Arc. templates. These will lower the resolution to SD though. If you want the DVDs to play in a relative fast computer, you can render as WMV and use one if the HD presets and keep it HD. Hope this helps,

The term avi is just a container, which can contain many types of avi, XVID, DVIX ect. there’s a free converter you can try and convert it to a type of avi Vegas can work with. Here’s a link to that freeware.

Under View, there is a check box for it. Sometimes it gets hidden off the screen, especialy when people change their screen resolution. If that’s the case for you, change you screen resoultion to 640 x 480 temporarally which normally brings it back into view, then drag it to the center and switch it back. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Personally I would use the normal 5.1 as most surround sound systems people have are Dolby surround sound 5.1. Then I would put the main dialog mostly in the center speaker and then place other sounds where ever they would be in the video. If you have a 5.1 sound card, experiment and try to place them where it sounds like your in that environment. Remember if your making a surround sound DVD, you will need to render the audio seperatly from the video as .ac3 format. You can also render as WMV suround sound as one file. If you shoot your bobbing head video in front of a green or blue background, you can key our the green or blue, save as uncompressed with alpha channel. By the way there is no video in you post to look at. Danny Hays

Not without rotoscoping, which is very time consuming. unless there is no black in the clip except for the black outline. If that was the case, you could key out black. Do you have the original clip before the chromakey was done to it?

If your going to edit the smaller clips again, try the “type” Videos for Windows (.avi) “template” HD 1080-60i YUV, then click custom and on the video tab change the frame size to HDV 720 (1280×729) and change the field order to progressive. The file size is close the the original Motion Jpeg and if your media player will pay the MJPEG, it’ll play the YUV file and Vegas will edit it just fine. If your going to save the peices to play and not edit again, I would use the WMV, 720 preset. It will look almost the same as the original, but much smaller file size. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Oh, I haven’t heard of Resolve for Mac, so I googled Resolve Software and Vectorworks came up.
I did search the PDF for Davinci Resolve and it meantions working with 4k but nothing about outputing it. It does talk about 2k all through the manual though. This is above me. Have you contacted Blackmagin direct about it?
I’m still curious what your playing 4k video on though.

Ha! No. It’s just this is a Blackmagic forum. I was intrigued by some of the formats your working with. What do you play a 4K video with out of curiosity? We use some DVS 4K servers at work. You are talking about video right?
