That’s what you archive it at. No point in doing it any other way. No point in uncompressed as you’ll just waste space. You could also try Apple ProRes HQ as an alternative

If in the future you want to work with it and edit or comp with it, then at that time you could transcode it to uncompressed 10bit if necessary.

First you need to decide on the tape format you wish to use. Whatever you decide on will determine what format your need to have you sequence set to in FCP. Anything in that sequence will need to be rendered to that format type.

9 times out of 10 when a Windows user asks for an AVI what they actually want is a DivX encoded file – Divx is like MPEG-4 (not H.264). This is easily done on the Mac but you’ll need to download DivX:

I’ve always found that reducing the frame rate has such an adverse effect on spatial and temporal quality that it’s not worth it for the slight reduction in datarate that can be achieved. Modern codecs are designed to work best at full frame rates, if this was being delivered by RTSP then maybe there’ be more benefit but I doubt it. Even in the early days of delivery to mobile devices I’d nearly always do full frame rate.
You’ll also encounter problems if you’re dealing with text like subtitles when reducing the frame rate.
