WMV Playback on Mac, and a few odds and ends regarding playing from server.
One of our latest projects requires 720×1280 WMV output – yes, it’s vertically oriented. The final output is going to be put on some type of media server that will playback the videos on certain monitors inside of a casino.
My main question is about testing playback of WMVs on a Mac. We have Flip4Mac, but it doesn’t seem to work very well, as it appears to be dropping frames on playback. Any thoughts on this other than actually playing back on PC?
As for compression I’ve been using the WMV component I installed in Compressor via Fli4Mac. I’m currently running it through Sorenson as well. WMVs aren’t requested too often, so I’m not sure of the best approach.
Has anyone else had experience with delivering content like this? Content that will be placed on some type of server and have the various videos distributed to different TVs? Is there anything I should be aware of? For example, I’ve read that a CBR will be better than a VBR for this.
