Output to tape
I am trying to output a version of my short film from Final Cut Pro. I hear that outputting to tape is a good option for this, but is it uncompressed? I dont have enough hard drive space to output an uncompressed version on my computer.
If tape is a good idea, can you do this with an HD project? Is there a higher quality tape worth outputting too?

First you need to decide on the tape format you wish to use. Whatever you decide on will determine what format your need to have you sequence set to in FCP. Anything in that sequence will need to be rendered to that format type.

Why are you committed to outputting to tape?
You could save the file to optical disk (Blu-ray data) as well as hard drive.
Uncompressed HD? Tape formats are generally compressed (nature of the beast) but you could go to HDCAM or even HDCAM SR if you have a big budget.Without explaining why you need to go to tape it’s hard to say what’s best.

And for less than a hundred bucks you could get a USB drive and save the movie to that drive in a plethora of different codecs.
