Agreeed, but PhotoJPEG is MUCH better supported on windows. MPEG Streamclip will make a PhotoJPEG .AVI that works much better than a QT file on Windows inflicted boxes. For example it works with apps that don’t accept .movs.

Not the right format to choose, like the name implies, suitable for Animation, not video. Oddly enough though, PhotoJPEG would be a much better choice.

As much of a fan of QT as I am (having worked with it before it was even available to the public), there are now too many ‘issues’ with it for it to be reliable for use as a format for delivery to a broadcast playout centre.

[Oliver Maingay] “If you are editing uncompressed I would recommend delivering uncompressed, either 10-Bit using a codec such as Blackmagic or 8-Bit if file sizes are an issue. The station can then encode to their MPEG-2 specs for broadcast. “

Stations don’t want to have to re-encode, they want something that works on their systems.

Certainly in my experience.

We are pretty well 100% file delivery and one of the biggest in Europe.

Our chosen format is MXF wrapped IMX 50MB/s I-frame OP1a at 720×608 (PAL)

We get nothing refused.

Bottom line is that if you stick to an I-frame only (Contrained) 50Mb/s MPEG-2 file and you’ll be fine. For SD only, obviously.

720×576 can contain either a 4:3 or 16:9 frame aspect. Simply select 16:9 as the desired target in compressor, it’ll look squashed until you view it through a DVD player, VLC etc.

Yes. Use an uncompressed AVI or another high quality intermediate file format.

I’d probably say that the files are corrupt, have you tried to open them with VLC?

If you are using Quicktime for both pieces of video then you can combine the two using the copy and paste function in QuickTime pro. If you are using any other format you’ll need to do the compression step from scratch.
