What compressor preset are you using?

[Bob Cole] “What would you recommend that I use for these longer videos?”
It depends what the client wants to deliver. The encode process is roughly the same as you are used to.

Ok,
Much of the estimated time given by compressor will be taken up by the upscaling of the SD footage and that time will vary considerably depending on what quality settings you have chosen for the upscaling.
My suggestion is to take a short sample – say 10 minutes, and run it through the process at those settings while timing it. Simple maths will tell you how long the whole lot will take.

Just to back up what Craig has pointed out.
You HAVE to find out what the client wants to do with the WMV file.
Otherwise you are throwing darts at a dartboard with a blindfold on in a very strong breeze from 1000 yards.

[dan freshman] “I have about 33 gigs to convert and when I try to batch compress, it estimates the time needed to about 1100 hours”
Tell us how many hours you have to compress rather than the total size 33GB in one format could be 1000 x longer than in another format.
Could you also tell us what CODEC the source material is?

Craig is right of course, although MPEG-1 can go to 8000×8000 only one application I know of (Digigami MegaPEG) can produce that reliably, but there’s little or no point in using MPEG-1 these days (even though many systems and applications still do!)

Is your source 4:3 or 16:9?
Are you using the same aspect ratio setting in AME?
What are you using to view the finished MPEG-2?

Use Final Cut Pro to do any speed changes to the video and if you are a perfectionist, use Logic to affect the audio to the same degree.

Best to contact them directly for the news on the full product, but it does seem to have faded away for whatever reason.

October 16, 2009 at 10:07 am in reply to: Preserve A Line Of Pixel Perfectly When CompressSorry I meant to say that WOWvx uses MPEG.
According to Philips they have taken the lead in MPEG standardisation of 3D video based on the 2D-plus-depth format and the WOWvx Media player uses MPEG-2.
I did some digging and came up with this:
https://www.inition.co.uk/inition/pdf/stereovis_philips_content.pdf
Page 11 gives you the recommended MPEG-2 profile
