What happened to Cinema Craft MP?
Posted by Alan Okey on October 16, 2009 at 12:01 amIs Cinema Craft MP (the plugin for Apple Compressor) dead? There’s no longer any reference to it on the Omni website. In fact, there’s no Mac-based products listed on their website. What gives?

Best to contact them directly for the news on the full product, but it does seem to have faded away for whatever reason.

October 18, 2009 at 6:15 amI have written to Cinema Craft in Japan. I hope they will continue to sell and support the product. I’ve loved it for the year and a half I’ve used it. I’ve held off upgrading to Snow Leopard ‘cuz I was awaiting an e-mail from Cinema Craft telling me it works in SL. When i hear any reply I will post here.

October 28, 2009 at 7:59 pmHi David,
I have been a Cinema Craft Customer for almost a year now and think the product is great. I was waiting to upgrade my system to Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio 3 (2009) but heard there were a lot problems with Apple’s Compressor 3.5 especially with their Frame Controls (resizing HD to SD). Nothing to do with Cinema Craft MP. Their tech support told me that Cinema Craft MP is compatible with Snow Leopard and the new Final Cut Studio 3. They recommended not to upgrade until Apple resolved their issues with Compressor 3.5. Anyways, I just found out that yesterday Apple finally released an update to Compressor, v3.5.1, which fixes several important bugs. You can read about it here: https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2511
I have 2 systems here and so I am going to make the move to upgrade one of my systems to the new OS and FCS3. I’ll let you know how it went. Anyways, I just wanted to chime in about Cinema Craft MP. I think their product produces outstanding encodes.
Cheers,
Jeff
