Apple use an average data rate of something between 1MB and 3MB (Megabytes) a second for the 1080 clips.
They’ll likely use something more specialised for encoding than just Quicktime export.
The guys doing the encoding get access to the highest quality source available.
If your content is not playing back smoothing on your Mac, it’s likely that your datarate is way too high or the footage is madly visually complicated, or both.
It’s a London thing.
