There are a few reasons why your Mac ref files won’t work on a PC, but if you’ve made the move to Mac why don’t you just use compressor or cross-grade to a Mac version of Squeeze if you prefer it to compressor?
(Network rendering has nothing to do with it AFAIK)

Ok,
As you’ve discovered, your ’25p’ is actually written to tape as 50i but you want ‘true’ progressive footage from this interlaced source and your NLE doesn’t support it natively and you don’t want to go through a render or deinterlace step?
I’m out of suggestions.
Let us know if you find a solution.

Yes, I’m certain with Episode, 99% sure with ffmpeg

Sorry, I don’t know of an easy to use Metadata injector for the Mac but you wouldn’t have an issue if you used something like FFMPEG or Episode to do your encoding.

Use and automatic, adaptive deinterlacer, there are a couple available for VirtualDub. The will make you footage progressive with the minimum of quality loss.

“Can any one explain why when I use compressor my video ends up in Adobe Soundbooth”
Can you please elaborate?

Either stick with the native HDV format (which is the quickest and easiest, or export to the Apple Pro Res CODEC which will help compressor encode it slightly faster. It’s pointless sending an uncompressed file to compressor.

There are many beautiful things about Christianity but your proselytism is both ugly and rude.
IMHO.
Happy New Year.

December 30, 2008 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Carbon Coder – Windows Media installation unable execute tasks8 keyframes per second is way way to many – you should be inserting a keyframe every 10 seconds, or once every 250 frames if you work in PAL. As you have it, the encoder is trying to set a keyframe every 3 frames.
It’s quite likely that this is what is causing the problem.
