I haven’t ever used any expensive rigs so unfortunately I can’t compare – but I have shot some footage with it and the results were very smooth (but not too smooth, if you know what I mean) and looked quite professional.
In “shoulder support mode” I can’t possibly imagine any other support being much better. Perhaps more comfortable, but when you get your positioning right with this one it isn’t uncomfortable at all.
B-Hague (as much as I love them) sell a bog basic shoulder support which is utterly featureless, for ~£52. So I think this is a relatively great investment.
If you like I’ll see to uploading some of my footage for you?

Depending on how fast you intend to speed it up, you may want to take a series of photographs instead of shooting video.
To get a nice fluid look in video or film most go for 1/(2xfr rate) for shutter speed. So if you’re going for shooting at 30fps you’d normally want 1/60th shutter speed. This is the 180 degree shutter rule, that the film is exposed for half of the time of the frame.
Thus, if you’re going to try taking photos you could try taking perhaps a 5s shutter picture, waiting 5s, taking another one, and so on, and putting them into a project, giving each image one frame of time?
I’m sure there is a perfect mathematical solution but my mind is much too boggled to realise what it is!

The 7D has Automatic Gain Control. There is a hiss and the noise floor rises and falls depending on the instantaneous environmental noise levels. The fact that it changes constantly is extremely irritating.
I recommend getting an external recorder (Tascam, Zoom H1/H4N) to record with your external mic to control levels and prevent hiss. Use a clapperboard to synchronise the audio with video in post.
I believe, with this, you’ll be on the Rode to success!
Alternatively you could try Magic Lantern firmware hack that allows you to disable AGC and control your gain, but this will invalidate your warranty (I believe) and may bring problems to your camera.

Are the audio tracks muted?

Ah well. I found that by fiddling with the knobs on my speakers I can pretty much silence all the sounds up there.
Thanks anyway!

Have you tried adding smoothness to keyframes?
I think this shuddering thing might be due to the absence of motion blur. Motion blur makes shots sort of ‘fluid’ and smooth. It’d probably be really difficult to add in Vegas though…

I get this so randomly all the time!
I have no idea why, but I’m just glad Vegas autosaves regularly.Daniel Hughes

[Joseph Dezordi] “I am especially impressed with the Neatvideo”
Watch out using Neatvideo in Vegas. It is fantastic but pay close attention for jumping and jittering glitches.
If you look on their website it identifies errors and describes the circumstances that would provoke such problems.
I think the solution is to apply the plugin to individual events and to avoid applying it to an entire track…

For someone else to render it for you you’d need to send all of the clips in the project. It’s just all ‘Media Offline’.
But nonetheless, you could try, with your sounds that are becoming inaudible, boosting the gain of those sounds? You then might want to try PCM (wave64).
