Tom, can you please elaborate? I don’t understand what you are recommending.

May 17, 2009 at 11:37 pm in reply to: Is it possible to create a discreet audio data disc in FCP?I fnally got around to testing this out and I am a little confused. When I changed my audio output settings in FCP, a dialogue window came up saying the following:
“the current audio device does not support the number of outputs set in the sequence settings audio output tab. Unsupported outputs will not be heard during playback on this machine unless downmixed to stereo”
Then it gives options to downmix all outputs to stereo.
Also…I followed your directions and was unsure what to do once I had set outputs in FCP and on timeline. do I export using Quicktime conversion and then drop the file onto the DVD icon to burn the data disc? Sorry if this is basic stuff…I do not have much experience with this.
Thanks

Thanks Tim,
I exported to compressor and converted to XDCAM HD…it worked perfectly! Thanks -
Hi Rafael,
I will deliver a DVD in 16:9 aspect ratio. I also will need to deliver a version on tape that is suitable for television broadcast. I will most likely print to a mini-dv tape in HDV 16:9 and have it dubbed to 50 bit DVC-Pro tape for broadcast. -

March 7, 2009 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Need Help with poor quality DVD from FCP project *TIGHT DEADLINE*Thanks, I did what you instructed and when I imported asset into DVD Studio, there was video , but no audio. When I brought the file in after compressing in compressor, the file type is MPEG-2. What am I doing wrong?

March 7, 2009 at 5:14 pm in reply to: Need Help with poor quality DVD from FCP project *TIGHT DEADLINE*Hi Michael, I followed your directions and I burned a DVD successfully. The problem is that, while it plays beautifully on my computer, it will not play in a DVD player….when I tried, it gave me an error message stating “incorrect disc” or something similar. Any ideas?

March 6, 2009 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Need Help with poor quality DVD from FCP project *TIGHT DEADLINE*Thanks, but I can not have the DVD start automatically…it will need to have a start/menu page where you push/click play to start.
I have never used DVd studio…do you know if you can you get decent quality with iDVD? -

March 6, 2009 at 5:29 pm in reply to: Need Help with poor quality DVD from FCP project *TIGHT DEADLINE*I will give it a shot…thanks.
I am currently compressing the video from FCP in compressor using the MPEG-2 6.2 mbps 2-Pass settings for “DVD – best quality 90 minutes”. Will this work? will it squeeze or distort the video? should I continue or stop the compression?
Thanks -

March 6, 2009 at 5:04 pm in reply to: Need Help with poor quality DVD from FCP project *TIGHT DEADLINE*I am using FCP 6.0.5. It is a HDV project, but the DVD will need to be 4:3 SD letterboxed. The length is about 10 minutes.
I would really like to use iDVD to create the DVD since I am familiar with it. If you think I would get much improved quality by using DVD Studio, only way I could pull it off at this point is if you give me detailed step by step instructions (sorry).
Thanks for your help!Dan
