  • The code is going to depend a lot on the format of the text, but for your example something like this should do the trick:

    eval(“s=” + thisComp.layer(“Text Layer”).text.sourceText);

    The second parameter always has to be smaller than the third parameter. So for this case it would be:

    linear(position[2],-4800,-100,0,100)

    The other direction would be:

    linear(position[2],100,4800,100,0)

    This should do it:

    Math.min(linear(position[2],-4800,-100,0,100),linear(position[2],100,4800,100,0))

    You could create your text in Illustrator and convert it to outlines, then import into AE. Or, upgrade to AE 7.

    Which version of After Effects are you running? AE hasn’t always supported exporting text layers to Flash.

    I think you’d just change the next-to-last line to this and you should be good to go:

    value – [0,0,(switchTime3 – switchTime2)*V2] – [0,0,(time – switchTime3)*V3];

    How about this?

    switchTime1 = 1.5;
    switchTime2 = 3.0;
    switchTime3 = 4.0;

    minV1 = 100; // min velocity (pixels per second)
    maxV1 = 500;
    minV2 = 10;
    maxV2 = 50;
    seedRandom(index,true);
    V1 = random(minV1,maxV1);
    V2 = random(minV2,maxV2)
    if (time < switchTime1){ value + [0,0,time*V1]; }else if (time < switchTime2){ value + [0,0,(2*switchTime1 - time)*V1]; }else if (time < switchTime3){ value - [0,0,(time - switchTime2)*V2]; }else{ value - [0,0,(switchTime3 - switchTime2)*V2] - [0,0,(time - switchTime3)*V1]; } Dan

  • timeToSwitch = 3.0; // switch expressions at 3 seconds

    if (time < timeToSwitch){ (first expression goes here) }else{ (second expression goes here) } Dan

    These should work (in the order you asked for them):

    switchTime = 1.5; //time to reverse direction
    minV = 100; // min velocity (pixels per second)
    maxV = 500;
    seedRandom(index,true);
    V = random(minV,maxV);
    if (time < switchTime){ value + [0,0,time*V]; }else if (time < switchTime*2){ value + [0,0,(2*switchTime - time)*V]; }else{ value } switchTime = 1.5; //time to reverse direction minV = 100; // min velocity (pixels per second) maxV = 500; seedRandom(index,true); V = random(minV,maxV); if (time < switchTime){ value + [0,0,time*V]; }else{ value + [0,0,(2*switchTime - time)*V]; } minV = 100; // min velocity (pixels per second) maxV = 500; seedRandom(index,true); V = random(minV,maxV); value - [0,0,time*V] Dan
