    This should do it:

    beginMin =5;
    beginSec = 0
    beginTime = beginMin*60 + beginSec*0;
    function digits(myVal,myNumDigits){
    var s = myVal.toString();
    while (s.length < myNumDigits) s = '0' + s; return s;} currTime = beginTime - time; min = Math.floor((currTime%3600)/60); sec = digits(Math.floor(currTime)%60,2); min + ":" + sec Dan

    Sure:

    vel = 2; //degrees per second
    time*vel

    Unfortunately, at this time an expression can’t access a marker’s comment. However, it can get a marker’s time. So, with a little modification, I think you could set up your animations and apply markers where each animation starts. Then you could have a Slider where you use hold keyframes to set the marker number of the animation that you want to sync to the Slider keyframe. The expression would be somewhat more complicated (you’d have to make sure you didn’t run over into the next animation), but I don’t see any reason that it wouldn’t work.

    OK – say you wanted it to rotate -30 over 5 frames, hold hold 15 frames, repeat forever. Something like this should do the trick:

    rotateAmount = -30;
    rotateFrames = 5;
    holdFrames = 15;
    f = Math.round(time/thisComp.frameDuration);
    period = Math.floor(f / (rotateFrames + holdFrames))
    phase = f%(rotateFrames + holdFrames);
    rotateAmount * period + linear(phase,0,rotateFrames,0,rotateAmount)

    How about just keyframe one complete cycle and then use a loopOut(“cycle”) expression?

    I think I’d precompose your animation layer (move all attributes), enable time remapping, and apply a time remapping expression like this:

    minDelay = 2;
    maxDelay = 4;
    seedRandom(index,true);
    t = 0;
    d = 0;
    while (t < time){ d = random(minDelay, maxDelay); t += d; } if (time < d) 0 else time - t + d Dan

    What happens between those random times?

    It would be more like this:

    delay = .05 * (index – 1)
    X = MYLAYERVALUE;
    X.valueAtTime (time – delay)

    If the pictures are all the same size, it should be pretty easy to do without 3D. Just add a null with a Slider Control and add this expression to the Opacity of the layers you want to control:

    s = thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“Slider Control”)(“Slider”);
    if (index > s) 100 else 0

    Then just keyframe the slider value.
