I’m trying to simulate pool balls rolling around on the table after a break in After Effects.
I brought in 16 layers (each ball would be a layer ). So far I’ve set up the composition as if the pool balls are racked up ready for the break. How do I group all these layers together as one image for a certain number of frames(to scale them), and then separate them a few frames later once the cue ball breaks them apart?
If I select all the layers and then scale them, each balls scales down independently separating form each other in the group, and I don’t want to make an Illustrator file beacause I like the the lighting effects I’ve applied in After Effects.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Have you tried parenting all of the layers to a null object, then scaling the null object ???

This has nothing to do with the breaking motion, but for more realism you might consider separating the shadow and highlight on the balls into different layers so that when they roll the shadow doesn’t roll up to the top and vise versa.

Thanks…that was one of those answers where you smack yourself on the forehead and say “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
