You should be able to import AutoCAD .dwg files no problem. Plenty of free AutoCAD models to download and test. If you have troubles importing you will probably have some back and forth with the modeler to simplfy the file for import on your end.
With or without Cineware you should be fine. Depends on how complex of a 3D track you need to get and if the After Effects 3D tracker can solve it. If it’s a static scene you can solve the camera with the camera calibrator.

Two things come to mind…
a) Time permitting, can you render out double the frame rate and conform the fps for smoother motion
b) If you render out a depth pass, try rendering out double the resolution. If comping in linear space make sure you “Preserve RGB” in the interrupt footage tab in AE.

Do you have a black and white alpha loaded into the Alpha channel of what you are trying to key or just a duplicate of the greenscreen movie? It doesn’t have to be BW as long as the file you load has an alpha.

The one time I had to do a shoe, I used a tiled “shoelace” texture and it sold it pretty well. This should work whether you use splines/sweeps or model the laces. I modeled them so I could play around with the points.

June 27, 2013 at 1:02 am in reply to: cloner render instances disables Mograph Selection tag?i understand the issue you are dealing with. Cloners within Cloners can create problems. I can’t come up with a solution for you. You might want to bump this question over to Mograph.net. Also, Tim Clapham has a nice Jigsaw tutorial on the Maxon Youtube page. Maybe you can get some ideas for workarounds there.

What are you doing to make them collide? In the attached scene file on this post I added a Dynamics Tag to the emitters. When the particles collide the camera still follows the original particle. I turned up the Steps in the Dynamics Project Settings to make a more accurate calculation because there was a lot of jitter at first. I also turned up the Follow Position and Follow Rotation in the Dynamics Tag.
