    Hello,

I have a client that wants me to take an AUTOCAD model, bring it into Cinema and track it into a shot. So imagine a helicopter shot flying over and showing where the new building will be.

I’m an intermediate Cinema user so I’m trying not to get myself in trouble here. Would this be something that would benefit from Cinemaware? I haven’t done any 3D tracking but I imagine that the new workflow would be helpful.

Also I’ve done some research with bringing in Autocad stuff, but I have had no experience personally.

Any info you can provide would be great.

    Thanks,

    Dan

You should be able to import AutoCAD .dwg files no problem. Plenty of free AutoCAD models to download and test. If you have troubles importing you will probably have some back and forth with the modeler to simplfy the file for import on your end.

With or without Cineware you should be fine. Depends on how complex of a 3D track you need to get and if the After Effects 3D tracker can solve it. If it’s a static scene you can solve the camera with the camera calibrator.
