It’s rare to find a program that will let you animate between blend modes.
The Boris Continuum plug-ins will let you animate between two blend modes on many filters, but if you want to do it without performance enhancing drugs, then go with your instinct. Duplicate the track and stick on a Fade-in/out behaviour (or keyframe. it’s up to you!)

After Effects projects are not backward compatible. You can import AE7 projects into CS3, and it will prompt you to save it as a new project file.
You cannot, and never have been able to, import projects created in a later version of After Effects into previous versions. That’s why you get the “Time to Upgrade” message when you try to open a CS3 project into Version 7.

Or here’s another option I use:
i) Drag the clip you want to make the change on to a new/empty track.
ii) Lock all other tracks (including audio)
iii) Make your speed change.
iv) Trim it to the required length.
v) Unlock your tracks and move the clip down.It takes longer to describe than do. Honestly :o)

Be careful. OEM software, especially when talked about in Spam, is just another word for pirate software. Proper OEM stuff is bundled with other things. Like the copy of Cubase you get with a soundcard.
Many companies don’t even do OEM software.
If you’re worried, check with the company concerned (Red Giant Software, in your case) to find out whether it’s legit. Most importantly, only buy from legit sources. If the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Sounds like a simple fix.
Select your keyframes and right-click to select Keyframe Interpolation.
Change Spatial Interpolation to Linear and you’re done.

Hi,
A great deal of that comes down to the type of film stock used and how that film was then developed. (And great lighting and cinematography of course)
Depending on your source, you can get a decent approximate look using the bundled After Effect colour correction plug-ins. You’ll need to do both primary and secondary corrections to get your grade looking good.
Coincidentally enough, I’m about to release an After Effects presets package called “Film Wash” that does just that. :o) I’ve used these on a number of projects and they work really well.

Hi Stephan,
You want to use a track matte.
Create a mask on a solid layer that lies on top of the layer you want to cut out. Then click on the TrkMatte dropdown menu on your footage layer, select Alpha Matte.
Here’s the layer order for you:
1) Masked solid
2) Your footage – Track matte set
3) Background (if used)Now you can move your footage layer around and the mask won’t move.
