    8but SD, not HD!

Do you experience the same ‘slowing down’ of those kind of projects?

    thanks for the reply.

you’re right about the more specialized forums, however I know the official answers, not the creative ones 🙂

If you choose to not work in anamorphic SD but in HDV, make sure you capture using apples intermediate codec. This way, the HDV will maintain its aspect ratio and quality, but it will no longer be a long-gop mpeg2 stream, it will be ‘full-framerate’ video, which is much easier for the G5’s processor to handle.
it will take up a lot more HD space, but your multicam should be better.

the application MPEGSTREAMCLIP is a freebie but its MPeg4, H264 and other conversions look awesome!

try quitting fcp, copying codecs into library-quicktime folder.
I van send them to you if you want.

  • Jeff,

anytime you have less than 5% space left on any drive, this disk will not be reliable.
    Try a couple of these:

    – export to another drive
    – export non-self contained and ‘consolidate’ using compressor
    – trash your render files and re-render your whole sequence in one run. Your problem might be caused by a corrupt clip or render file.

5.0.4 has been good to us so far, but looking forward to 5.1 for numerous reasons (separate timecode capture, 5.1 audio, 720p25 integration, more intelligent nesting, advanced attributes-handling, advanced speed-menu’s etc.etc.etc.)

did you try the other firewire slot in the G4. If that doesn’t work, did you try another firewire cable?

fcp might have added a fieldshift filter. Hit remove attributes, check filters.. rerender

April 7, 2006 at 9:33 pm in reply to: nesting

Yes, that’s still a thing fcp needs to work on.
To work around it, make sure you put your nest on a separate layer, and lock other layers before working inside the nest.

Anohter thing to bear in mind is that ‘nesting’ will destroy your composite modes (if the bottom layer inside your nest is e.g. additive, it will be ‘normal’ after nesting).

Most likely, you have to check the a2 box in the following menu: log&capture (command8) — capture settings — audio window — check both a1 and a2 and enable preview box
