    Hello,

I’m capturing several clips via FireW from my Panasonic XL-100 to my laptop with FCP-HD. However FCP seems to only log V1 and A1 BUT NOT A2. So when I go to capture A2 is missing.

First, I have not changed anything since I last used the set-up, however
I have tried several things to resolved the isssue, nothing has work:

    1. Swith tapes – no change
    2. Checked capture settings tried Mono-Mix and CH-1+Ch2 – no change
    3. Checked Audio/Video settng (set to cpature 2 chs – no change
    4. Changed Firewire, just in case – no change
    5. Closed and re-opned FCP – no change
    6. Check all camera settings – no changed
    7. Changed Speakers to ON while cpaturing, I can hear both channels ut ONLY ONE is capture once is done

    **INTERESTING facts:

1.When this first happened and I digitized all clips, I accidently redigited an older clip (HOUSE_SHOT) already in the bin, it just used the timecodes and re-did it from the current tape… IS THE ONLY CLIPPED THAT LOGGED AND CAPTURE BOTH A1 and A2 ???

    2. When I CTRL-click (the clip HOUSE_SHOT) > item properties> Loggin Info > It shows it logged both A1 and A2 but when I do the same for the other clips the logging info only show A1 ??

Hope I have been able to explain…. you help is greatly appreciated.

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

    Next:
THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”

Click the following link for instructions.

    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.

Download these free Apple Scripts at

    https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/
    or
    https://pistolerapost2.com/fcprescue/

This is one FCP tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

Most likely, you have to check the a2 box in the following menu: log&capture (command8) — capture settings — audio window — check both a1 and a2 and enable preview box
