I’m not sure about an automated method, but I would approach this but cutting up the photo into separate layers in PS and the animating them in AE. You’ll have to do some paint work on the originally obscured petals as well. Good luck!

Check your alpha interpretation settings in AE.

Nuke or Shake could fix the problem 🙂
But really, I think you\’re just describing a limitation of layer based comping. In AE, i\’ve always just viewed two comps at once.Craig Whitaker

With that said, the only thing I can think of is an animated scale/displacement/warp effect….assuming the talent isn’t moving around that much. Is a re-shoot at all possible?

try masking the text and then reveal/move one side of the mask as the car drives by. Shouldn’t be too hard, good luck!

I’m going to have to refer to one of Daves stock answers….can you reshoot? This time making the screen brighter so it’s not the same luminance as his shirt? If not? I can only think to animate a holdout matte to focus on his core or just roto the whole damn thing….or cs5’s rotobrush 🙂

Can you break it up and multiplane it?

It is surely a pain, but doable. I usually double click the path to select the entire shape. If I want just one specific point, I then click away from the selection and THEN back on one specific point. Not sure if it’s the right or only way, but it works for me. Good luck!
