I am curious if anyone has successfully used AE’s built-in “Particle Playground.” I found it so miserably slow that I couldn’t even explore its capabilities.

    Particular is FAST.

Anyway…spend some time in this category of plug ins: SIMULATION.

You have to use a particle engine that supports the right physics.

Particular from Trapcode specifically supports wind but it is a 3rd party (extra $) plug-in.

It’s late but I’ll try that next time…thanks Darby!

    Weird.

If I ’roundtrip the path into Illustrator and back–then it works fine. It’s a clipboard issue of some kind.

I knew that trick–and tried it already.

    It’s flat out goofy.

Yes your distinction is a good — and important one. I have been working on several projects where I am creating “motion” paths for objects in 3D space. What I have resorted to doing is using a null–because I can more easily see it. Then I pick whip the z position over to my primary target–or emitter as the case often is.

I long to be able to change the camera angle and work from the top with a pen tool and create my vertices across the Z axis. I think the short answer is: I can’t. Period.

It’s not a specific project-oriented question, but one of general work flow.

Yes. I have been “co-existing” along with my two versions of AE for over a month now.

Philip, I love that tip with pick whipping the value into a text field.

That (inherently?) won’t work with arrays, will it?

After ***literally*** 2.5 hrs and 7 phone calls I finally discovered Adobe had shipped my product…

    …to the WRONG address!

I am not convinced any of this started as analog material.

I do recognize a few Cycore effects here.
