I am not sure exactly what you are needing but…

You can set your various mark keyframes to HOLD…that way they won’t interpolate in unpredictable ways between keyframes.

Also try to use a consistent number of vertices from one mask keyframe to the next.

They won’t work because they are not compatible with Universal (Intel).

Did you check AICB preference in Illustrator?

    Anyone try it out?

I had some real fun with that one evening. I only wish I had a little better source crowd material.

You really want your footage to be un-cropped on all four sides.

OK…I watched the activity monitor DURING a preview and yes I can see it’s utilizing 70-95% of each of the four processors.

“What’s neat is that the effect stays live: after applying it, just change the settings for more or less objects, at different angles or whatever.”

    Sounds like digitalanarchy’s “3d assistants” — instead for Maxon’s 4d

The activity monitor shows multiple items called aeselflink — 4 copies…so that seems to tell me something!…yet I’m still slightly unsettled about utilization in my previews…because it was so obvious with the beta how it was using the four cores–and it just isn’t now…

When I say “discontigous rendering” I’m just hacking my own term for this:

    see linked visual explanation:

This is what I would see when doing previews with the AE8 beta. It doesn’t render like that now.

Steve, considering I would need to buy extra modules — what might a realistic total investment look like?

I can upgrade my Lightwave for about $400.

    Bez–Bez–Bez

I too am very interested in this topic. I have a hunch in time Adobe will feature their own full-featured 3d program that plays friendly with AE.

In the meantime I have been considering upgrading my Lightwave, buying Sketchup Pro or other options.

I recently bought Vue Esprit just for some special scenes. I also used 3d invigorator and it certainly has it’s uses and that is the tightest integration you can get–sharing cameras, lights, etc.

I don’t have much expectation that these apps will truly integrate with AE. Some minimal integration for now would be fine.
