You can cross-grade to FCP Studio until the end of the year. It’s NOT an academic version.
Also, Walter, why lecture someone on the morals of using the academic version professionally when it was a simple straight-forward question? You have no idea how he wants to use the program or why. It’s wrong for you to assume that was the purpose. I could understand if that was a part of the question, but it wasn’t. It’s like someone said above, it’s up to the individual.

I just got a Dell 2407 and it’s beautiful but God help you if you need customer support. It took every bit of my concentration and 1 hour of my time to communicate my need. I sure hope that I’m getting a replacement stand in 3-5 days. 🙂

The JVC does all of this with audio levels except record DV CAM.

My reseller recommended the JVC BR-DV3000U(B). He said he has had no complaints and a bunch of orders. Unlike the DSR-11, the JVC has RS-422 control. The JVC however doesn’t record to DV Cam tapes (play only). He said the Panasonic version is the same as the JVC. I just ordered the JVC.
