So it does seem like there may be a problem with file handling.
In Quicktime X use Window > Show Movie Inspector
and either post everything it says or post a screenshot. It may provide a clue about the file. -
First lets check if the .mp4 is viable.
Open the .mp4 in Quicktime X and see if it plays with video and audio. -
Although with online tutorials it’s not like they’re dumping old stock. It may widen their contact list for upgrades to new training though.

After Magix bought Vegas Pro they decided to offer to buy FCPX rather than make a Mac version. Apple said yes.
It was actually Magix that did the NAB presentation and that’s why they had everyone sign the NDA. -
No hardware or technologies that would impact ProApps it would seem.
Siri integration into FCPX might be interesting though. -
