    Hey guys,

My DP uses the Panasonic Luminex GH4. He transferred all the 4k videos in mp4 format to my external hard drive. Now I’m trying to use Compressor to convert the files to ProRes 422.

Compressor can’t open the files. I even upgraded to the latest version of Compressor and I’m still getting this error message “error trying to open source media file”

I also tried right clicking the files and clicking Encode selected video files. There I get the message “avconvert completed with error:30”

    Any suggestions?

First lets check if the .mp4 is viable.
Open the .mp4 in Quicktime X and see if it plays with video and audio.

Quicktime X is giving me an error “An invalid sample description was found in the movie.”

Quicktime player opens the file but it plays choppy.

So it does seem like there may be a problem with file handling.
In Quicktime X use Window > Show Movie Inspector
and either post everything it says or post a screenshot. It may provide a clue about the file.
